Automated Cutting Services was established in 1989 to provide a computerised
laser cutting service to the sail making industry in the UK.
Since then we have expanded into a wide range of businesses working with fabrics
such as tensile structures, balloons, kites, lampshades, awnings and umbrellas
plus many one off projects for artists and experimental test equipment.
In
2005 the addition of a third laser cutting table to extend the range
of materials that we could work with. Our new laser table is smaller
than the others with a working area of 1800mm x 900mm. The bed is
a conveyor so enabling longer objects than the bed to be cut.
Due to the design of this machine it is very versatile and capable of
cutting and engraving both large and small objects at speed and with great accuracy.
One of the particular functions of this laser is the ability to engrave an
image on almost any surface. Cutting fabrics, paper, cardboard, thin wood and
plastics are easily accomplished on this laser. Pen attachments also mean that
constructional data and panel identification can be added to the work prior
to being cut.
We also use the lasers and their pen attachments to produce patterns in paper
or fabric and can etch onto wood and MDF. Data can be supplied as DXF, DWG or
HPGL format. All standard export formats from most CAD programs. Alternatively
drawings can be supplied and we can create the necessary vector files.
See the Gallery
for samples of the type of work can carry out.
